Seasonal Sales in Kazakhstan: Discount Calendar and How to Prepare

Every year retailers in Kazakhstan run dozens of promotions, but real opportunities to save appear only in specific windows. Knowing the calendar and preparing in advance lets you buy what you need at a real price, not a "profitable" one on paper.

Do not wait for prices to drop by themselves. In Kazakhstan big discounts are tied to holidays and marketing events. Knowing the calendar and preparing in advance lets you save 20-40 % a year on appliances, clothing and gifts without buying extras and while protecting your rights.

Exact dates are announced by stores 1-2 weeks in advance, but the benchmarks are stable:

• January-February — winter sales and post-New Year clearances. Clothing, shoes, appliances after the holidays.
• 8 March — gift categories (cosmetics, perfume, jewellery).
• 13-23 March — Nauryz Sale. Nationwide promotion with 10-70 % discounts on food and non-food items (confirmed by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2026).
• June-August — summer inter-season sales. Summer clothing, sports goods, air conditioners, furniture. In August — school supplies.
• 24-27 October — promotions for Republic Day (discounts up to 70 % in shopping centres and online).
• November — the main events of the year: 11.11 (Singles Day) + Kaspi Жұма + Black Friday (last Friday of November, in 2026 — 27 November). Many stores start in mid-November.
• December — pre-New Year and New Year sales.

Kaspi Жұма runs several times a year (examples: February, summer, November) and brings together Technodom, Sulpak, "Mechta" and other chains with 0-0-24 instalments.

Compare the price 2-4 weeks before the promotion. Many stores raise the price before a sale and then "reduce" it.

Rule: a real discount is when the price is 20-40 % or more below the usual level. If you see "-70 %", check the price history, compare offers from several sellers and see whether the item's completeness has changed.

4 weeks before:
1. Create a "wish list" — a list of items with priorities (appliances, clothing, gifts).
2. Write down regular prices in notes or Excel.

3 weeks before:
1. Subscribe to newsletters from Kaspi, Wildberries.kz, Technodom.
2. Install price history extensions (Market Pulse for Kaspi).

2 weeks before:
1. Add items to cart/favourites on Kaspi and marketplaces.
2. Check for promo codes on promokodus.com or kz-promokod.com.

1 week before:
1. Set a budget (no more than 10-15 % of monthly income for impulse buys).
2. Choose the card with maximum cashback.

1-2 days before:
1. Set up notifications in the apps.
2. Prepare a list of alternatives in case the item is out of stock.

Main principle: do not trust only the crossed-out price. Save screenshots, compare prices in advance and check the seller.

Cashback services (LetyShops, Smarty.Sale, Megabonus) work on top of sale prices. The state Salyq cashback is 2 % on fiscal receipts through the Amian app (extended for 2026).

Kaspi Red / Kaspi Gold give additional bonuses and instalments. Promo codes can be combined with sale prices. The main thing is to check the terms: minimum order amount, excluded categories, promo code validity and bonus crediting rules.

Under Article 14 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Protection of Consumer Rights" goods of proper quality bought on sale can be exchanged or returned within 14 days (excluding the day of purchase). The discount itself is not grounds for refusal.

Exceptions (cannot be returned):
- underwear, hosiery;
- cosmetics, perfumes;
- food products;
- medicines;
- items discounted because of an obvious defect (the seller must have warned you).

Keep the receipt, correspondence and box for at least 14 days.

• Appliances and electronics — Black Friday / Kaspi Жұма (November) or January.
• Winter clothing and shoes — end of January-February.
• Summer clothing — July-August.
• School supplies — August.
• Furniture and home goods — summer and autumn clearances.

If the purchase is expensive, start monitoring one month in advance. For appliances it is especially important to compare not only price but also warranty, seller, delivery and possibility of return.

• Buy only from the "wish list".
• Set a 24-hour timer to think it over.
• Budget is a hard limit.
• Remember: a "profitable" price without a need is still an expense.

A sale should close a previously understood need, not create a new one. If you bought something only because of a timer, bright banner or the phrase "only 2 left", this is not saving.

Kaspi.kz dominates in convenience and instalments. Wildberries.kz and other marketplaces often copy global dates (11.11, Black Friday) but with local adjustments. Offline shopping centres, including MEGA, give additional discounts on shopping weekends.

On marketplaces check seller rating, delivery times, return conditions and the final price including delivery. In offline stores clarify whether the discount applies to a specific size, colour or set.

Seasonal sales are a saving tool, not a reason to spend. Knowing the calendar, preparing in advance and using all legal methods (cashback + promo codes + legal returns) lets you really reduce expenses by 20-40 % per year.
